Designed to enhance coatings, melt extrusions, and impregnation, Teflon™ FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) resins come in pellet form. They also work with conventional melt-extrusion techniques and injection-, compression-, transfer-, and blow-molding processes.
A high melt strength and drawdown capacity facilitates the use of large dies and drawdown tooling to increase production rates. Using larger length-over-diameter extruder barrels provides enough residence time at high production rates to melt these high-temperature polymers. Reciprocating screw injection-molding machines are most effective. It’s recommended that manufacturers use corrosion-resistant metals for any equipment that may contact molten resin.The properties of Teflon™ products make it the preferred solution for a host of industrial applications and processing techniques. DuPont™ Teflon ® FEP 9819FL is a specialty fluoroplastic resin available as a loosely compacted fluff. It is intended for use in special application processes in consultation with DuPont. Teflon ® FEP 9819FL and the other Teflon ® FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) copolymer resins combine the processing ease of conventional thermoplastics with many properties similar to those of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). They have high melt strength and stability at recommended processing temperatures.
