Teflon FEP Grades :
Designed to enhance coatings, melt extrusions, and impregnation, Teflon™ FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) resins come in pellet form. They also work with conventional melt-extrusion techniques and injection-, compression-, transfer-, and blow-molding processes.
A high melt strength and drawdown capacity facilitates the use of large dies and drawdown tooling to increase production rates. Using larger length-over-diameter extruder barrels provides enough residence time at high production rates to melt these high-temperature polymers. Reciprocating screw injection-molding machines are most effective. It’s recommended that manufacturers use corrosion-resistant metals for any equipment that may contact molten resin.The properties of Teflon™ products make it the preferred solution for a host of industrial applications and processing techniques. As industrial manufacturing continues to thrive, the ongoing development of Teflon™ fluoropolymers strengthen and reinforce the industry by:
* Increasing uptime
* Improving productivity
* Facilitating innovation
Features and Benefits of Teflon™ FEP Resins
Teflon™ FEP resins offer excellent chemical resistance and electrical properties while functioning at high service temperatures up to 200 °C (392 °F). Teflon™ FEP resins also provide unique flame resistance and best-in-class low-temperature toughness.
Teflon™ FEP is also available as a coating, film, or dispersion.
Typical Application
Small diameter, thin wall wire and cable insulations. Intricate or thin wall parts made by injection moulding.
DuPont Teflon® FEP 106 is a melt-processible copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene without additives that meets the requirements of ASTM D 2116 type II.
